All You Need to Know About Charging Your Electric Car in Pakistan

To power your EV and to move its wheels, battery-operated Electric Cars in Pakistan use electricity used in battery packs. These cars are considered all-electric because they neither run on gasoline or diesel.

When the battery power is used up, it is recharged with grid electricity. That grid is either from a wall plug or a charging unit.

These vehicles are for this reason pollution-free and produce zero emissions, which is not the case for their gasoline-powered counterparts.

Basic features of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) charging:
  •  They limit wasted energy by turning the car off when it is stopped.
  • It charges the battery during braking.
  • An average EV can drive up to 70 to 100 miles on a full charge but depending on what type of car it is and its power it can go to 265 miles.
  • A battery-charged operated electric vehicle is light and has extremely fast acceleration.
Charging your electric car at home:

It’s not as simple as attaching the car to a charging unit when you are on the road, home charging units can have their own tricks and technical difficulties one needs to consider.

  • Plug it into the main electric supply of your house if you have a parking garage at your house. Charging a car at home can take up to 14 hours or if your vehicle is bigger than it can take up to 24 hours even.
  • You can get home fast charging unit installed instead, which will take up to 4 to 12 hours to fully charge an empty battery pack.
  • Charging at home can cost you a lot more depending on the size and range of the vehicle you are using. Smaller cars will have a shorter power range so that will save you both time and money. You can think about and check your options by searching for Electric Car Prices in Pakistan.
  • If you don’t have a garage then you would somehow have to find a way to park the car near your home's main electric supply. If you are unable to find the position to fit your vehicle near the main supply then you can run a cable to it but make sure to cover the wires, so no accidents take place.
Public charging points for your electric cars in Pakistan

Recently on 27 July instant, Pakistani and Korean firms decided to collaborate to extend the Electric Vehicle’s infrastructure in Pakistan. This will enable the deployment of EV charging and storage equipment in the country.

Currently, there are not many public charging units to charge electric cars in Pakistan, but with the new infrastructure in action, there will be units in place very soon.

For now, to avail of fast charging, people will have to find public units or install the units at home.
