The Pros and Cons of Buying an Electric Car in Pakistan

The future of automobiles is electric. With the exciting new technology being developed in the market, it brings promising range, safety, and automation features while reducing charging time to minutes.

Along with the Electric Cars in Pakistan cutting emissions, they bring many benefits to the drivers along with some points to consider as disadvantages.

Pros of buying an electric vehicle (EV)

1. Buying an electric car can save you money as they are cheaper to fuel compared to their counterparts that require gasoline. Whereas battery EV does not even have any gasoline engine, which saves you maintenance costs. Needing no oil change, or plugs, the full lifetime drive of an electric car requires less to maintain and run.

2. Fully electric cars are zero-emission, which makes them cleaner and greener options, especially in today’s climate crisis world.

3. EV provides smoother drives, with their responsive acceleration and deceleration. They also provide better handling, response, and ride comfort.

4. While running completely on battery power, they run very quietly. So quite that legislators in some countries are debating whether to install noisemakers so that pedestrians can hear them.

5. There are now home installments for charging which is quite cost-efficient and quick. You can simply plug your car to charge when its parked.

Cons of buying an electric vehicle (EV)

1. The one disadvantage the drivers of EVs will have to face is the shorter range compared to the traditional gas-driven cars. Usually, it can go to 60 to 100 miles with a full charge, the auto companies are trying to take it much further. But even then their range will be less than the conventional vehicles.

2. The recharge can take more time than any gas filling will ever take. It would eventually depend on the model and type of electric car but it can take up to 20 hours for an electric car to charge completely.

3. The fully electric cars are not cheap as many gas-driven cars might be. A basic electric car can range from PKR 780,000 to 48,000,000. As technology progresses drivers can hope the electric car price in Pakistan lessens as more EVs enter the market.

4. A major hindrance all EV drivers will face in Pakistan is the lack of charging stations. Thus road trips can be difficult with electric vehicles, even with the charging completely full, the range of the drive isn’t enough for road trips, and neither will the cars be able to find charging stations in remote areas.

Currently, Pakistan doesn’t have many models for the people to choose from, with the Cars in Pakistan evolving to updated versions it can be hoped more models will enter the market that will provide options as well as more feather and better driving range. But as for now the lack of models companies have launched proves to be a disadvantage.
